The outgoing captains - Brian Smith, Dennis Durling and Linda Clark had their last putts as captains after the Phoenix Trophy competition on 12th January.

The "three amigos" lined up on the 9th green for this event which was full of laughter, fun and friendship just like their year has been.

Boxing Day Competition

 

26 players were very fortunate that Boxing Day fell in a break in the recent appalling weather that we, and the course, have been suffering. It was pretty damp under foot but it didn't rain and it wasn't even windy ! These favourable conditions led to some fantastic scores in the fun stableford adjusted 4BBB competitionwith most pairs scoring in the high 40s or low 50s.  Birdies littered most cards and there were even a few eagles to be seen. There was nothing to split the two winning pairs of Roger and Heather Blake and Peter and Alison Shanks who both scored a magnificent 52 points - equivalent to 8 under. All the entry fees were donated to Hertfordshire Young Homeless so will hopefully brighten up their day as well.

All shook up at presentation evening

It was all aboard the red chevy at presentation evening when the ladies enjoyed the rock & roll themed event to celebrate their golfing successes and those of their friends during 2013.

Aly Nedza scooped armfuls of trophies including Lady Golfer of the Year and shared the glory with Ellen Hume as the Most Improved Golfer and Babs Gaskell as Club Champion.

Ho Ho Ho - it's the Christmas Cup !!

There was a sackfull of santas out on the course for the xmas cup.  Despite the early start, we had a dry, mild day and the contents of lots of hip flasks kept our spirits up.  Judith and Debbie  delivered chocolates and drinks on Santa's sleigh to add to the Christmas cheer.  After some welcome lunch, the prizes were awarded with Rosie Meager winning the back 9 competition and Susanne Milan winning the front 9.

Information and photos

Having taken so many snaps of you all I needed a place to put them where you would be able to access them.  A chat with the Lady Captain of Chesfield Downs inspired me to create this blogsite - thanks Lauren!!
Apart from being able to set up the gallery of photographs, it also provided the oppportunity to give some information (on the tabs at the top of this page) about competitions, handicaps, the committee and a few other things to help everyone but particularly new members.
This is the first attempt at this sort of thing and so I am sure it will improve and develop over time.  If you have any thoughts about what information you would like to see here then please let me know.  Linda
