"So.......... you've joined Mill Green and now you want to join in the competitions. We'd love to have you playing with us but you need a CONGU handicap - here's how to get one"
WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE AN ACTIVE HANDICAP
If you have been a member of another club and hold an active handicap there but want Mill Green to be your "HOME" club, ie.the club responsible for allocating and adminstering your handicap, then contact your current club and ask them to make you an “AWAY” player. They will then confirm your handicap details to us and we will enter you onto our records.
If you have been a member of another club and want to continue to hold your active handicap there, then ask them for a copy of your current handicap certificate. Pass this onto our Handicap Secretary (see the committee page for details) and she will then enter you onto our records as an “AWAY” player.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN ACTIVE HANDICAP
You will need to submit 3 completed scorecards from rounds at Mill Green, which we will use to calculate your handicap.
These cards must be marked and signed by someone who has a current active handicap. They must each show a score of 120 or below. One of the cards must be marked and signed by a current committee member (see the committee page for details) or a past captain. Please let us know if you would like Mill Green to be your “HOME” club.
Whichever route you take, once you have a handicap, we will issue you with a handicap certificate and a swipe card for you to use to enter Mill Green club competitions and to add your results onto the computer.
USING YOUR HANDICAP
TO ENTER COMPETITIONS
You must play 4 qualifying competitions in each year after
getting your handicap in order to be able to enter the single and doubles
knock-out competitions and to be eligible to win any of the major competitions.
KEEPING YOUR HANDICAP
You must submit 3 cards in each calendar year (between
January and December) to keep your handicap active. If you have not been able to do this, then
you can submit 3 more cards by the end of June to be given back your last
active handicap. If not you will need
to start the process of getting a handicap again from the beginning.
CONTACTING OTHER
MEMBERS TO MARK CARDS
There is a list (on the back notice board) of members who
would be happy to play with new members to mark their cards or to help them
become familiar with the course and settle in.
There is also a list of committee members on the board (and as another page on this blog) who
are all happy to play with new members to mark one of their cards.
HANDICAP CERTIFICATES
The Handicap Secretary will give you your initial handicap certificate along with your swipe card. After that you can request a new certificate by contacting her although you are likley to have to wait until she is next at the club. Alternatively you can print one off from the website www.howdidido.co.uk whenever you wish.
